About our property

Horizon Guest House is oriented exactly north/south and east/west. The sun sets out over the ocean, to the west, affording spectacular sunsets. Each suite has its own lanai looking west over the ocean. The day breezes from the ocean are warm and gentle. At night they reverse, dropping in temperature, as they come down the slopes of Mauna Loa. Each suite is oriented to take advantage of both the warm day breezes and the cool night breezes. The queen suite is known as the honeymoon suite because of the privacy it offers due to its location at the end of the wing.

However, each of the suites has a ‘privacy’ wall between it and the next suite, so that even when relaxing on your private lanai you will not be able to see other guests, but will still enjoy the expansive Pacific Ocean view. We have a library with plenty of guidebooks and high-speed WiFi is available throughout the building and in each of the suites. Make use of the complimentary washer/dryer along with beach towels, snorkel gear and coolers. These are available in the laundry/utility room at the end of the guest wing. Pool-side BBQ facilities including dishes and silverware, all provided so that you can enjoy a BBQ while looking out over the Pacific Ocean. The pool and hot tub are both clothing-optional.

Looking for a place to stay on the east side of the Big Island?

We recommend Crater Rim Cabin if you’re looking for unique accommodation on the east side of the island. The cabin is situated in Volcano, at the edge of the fern-ohia forest, just outside the boundary of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
